Accommodation
We have pre-ordered capacities in “Hotel Tanne” at a special rate of € 60,– (incl. breakfast) for Audio Mostly attendees. Please book your rooms there until September 20. Furthermore, please refer to “Audio Mostly” if you book a room.
For students we have also pre-ordered 4-bed-rooms, at a rate of € 17, - per night, in the Ilmenau Youth Hostel (Website in German language only). Please book urgently otherwise we can not guarantee any free capacities. Furthermore, please refer to “Audio Mostly” if you book a room.
Another comfortable guesthouse is Pension “Melanie” (Website in German language only)

How to get there

For foreign visitors
You can fly in to Frankfurt/Main Airport (FRA) or to Berlin (Berlin Schönefeld (SXF) or Berlin Tegel (TXL)) and take the train to Ilmenau via Erfurt or rent a car at the airport.
If you arrive in Munich (MUC), Duesseldorf (DUS), Cologne (CGN) or Hamburg (HAM) you can take a connecting flight to Erfurt Airport. From there it is app. 30 minutes by rental car or taxi to Ilmenau.
Arriving by public transport
Every hour you can go by train or bus from Erfurt to Ilmenau. The ride takes about 60 minutes.
You can drive from the airport Erfurt with a rental car or taxi on the freeway A71 to Ilmenau. The ride takes approximately 35 minutes.
From railway station in Ilmenau
- Walk two minutes towards Erfurt/Arnstadt (along the Friedrich-Ebert-Str./Interstate B4)
- Cross the street »An der Schloßmauer«
- After about 300 meters turn left into the Weimarer Str.
- You will find the Röntgenbau of the Technical University on the right hand side.
- A taxi ride takes about 3 minutes
Please note! two particularities when travelling from Erfurt to Ilmenau by train:
- 1. In Erfurt they sometimes do not mention Ilmenau as the trains destination, but Meiningen! That's because the train is splitted in Plaue and usually the first wagon runs on to Meiningen and the 2 other wagons behind run on to Ilmenau. You should choose the end of the train in Erfurt! Usually they tell it over the loudspeakers but unfortunately only in German and often Ilmenau is not mentioned on the visual displays at all.
- 2. When arriving in Ilmenau there are over all 4 stops called Ilmenau namely Ilmenau-Roda, Ilmenau-Pörlitzer Höhe, Ilmenau Hbf (main station) and Ilmenau Bad.
* The closest stop to Hotel Tanne is the last stop of the train Ilmenau Bad (cross the street and you are in front of the hotel)
* The closest stop to the venue and to the youth hostel is Ilmenau Hbf However, not all the trains continue to Ilmenau-Bad, some end already at Ilmenau Hbf. You have to check this out.
Arriving by car
From direction Frankfurt/Dresden/Berlin/Munich (freeway A4):
- Leave the freeway A4 at the intersection “Erfurter Kreuz” and take the freeway A71 in direction “Schweinfurt”.
- Leave the freeway A71 at the exit “Ilmenau Ost” (Ilmenau East) and turn right onto interstate B87 towards Ilmenau.
- At the second traffic light drive straight on towards Ilmenau and follow the street passing an AGIP gas station, a Mc Donalds and a roundabout.
- Exit the roundabout towards Coburg and turn left into the Friedrich-Ebert-Str. (interstate B4 towards Coburg) at the next traffic light.
- After about 200 meters turn right into the Weimarer Str.
- The Röntgenbau is located on the right hand side.
From direction Coburg/Suhl (interstate B4):
- Pass the roundabout and exit towards Weimar.
- Follow the interstate B4, passing 3 traffic lights, the railway station to your right and another traffic light.
- At the fifth traffic light turn left into the Weimarer Str..
- The Röntgenbau is located on the right hand side.
